Electric deregulation is an energy sector restructuring program that was undertaken by different states in America. The aim of this policy was to remove monopolies that existed in the years that preceded deregulation. The monopolies used to control the entire energy market and had been overriding powers over the supply and pricing of electricity, and at times they abused these powers to charge excessively. However, all this changed with the coming of the deregulation era which brought with it many benefits to energy consumers, especially to the business customers. The following are the main benefits of energy deregulation to business customers.

Lower Energy Prices

Without a doubt, the biggest merit of energy deregulation is that it ushered in an era of affordable electric power to business users. One disadvantage of monopolies and strict regulation in electricity is that it offered overwhelming power to suppliers, which meant that businesses were charged higher rates. Deregulation brought with it competition which means that power utilities have to fight for customers in order to survive. This ultimately leads to lowering of electricity prices, which in turn leads to lowering the cost of production for business consumers.

These lower prices are especially welcome for small business customers who need all the savings they can get. Because electricity bills account for a substantial portion of all the cost of production, lower energy prices means that the cost of producing goods will reduce significantly, meaning that businesses can be able to charge less for their goods and services. Deregulation also helped address electricity price inequalities that were prevalent during the regulation period.

More Power

Deregulation led to a massive increase of power generation facilities being built across the country, which is just as well as business customers are increasingly demanding more energy. This increased power output is a boost to production of goods and services. In the years before energy deregulation, power was not as generously supplied as production output was at the behest of a few monopolies. In some states power generation and distribution improved to levels of up to fifty per cent better. More energy obviously meant more production and hence more business for the industrial consumers, and with it more profitability.

Clean Energy

Maybe by coincidence, or as a result of the competition generated by deregulation, business energy consumers are benefiting from clean energy. In their quest to win more business customers, most electricity suppliers are playing the environment and green energy card in order to get ahead of the competition. The ripple effect of this is that business customers get to enjoy clean energy unlike in the past where polluted energy was widespread. You cannot understate the importance of clean energy to the environment, and the role that businesses should play to achieve this.

Efficiency

The competition fuelled by energy deregulation led to higher efficiency and better customer service to business customers. These business virtues were sadly missing during the regulation years. Improved efficiency, for example, leads to more power conservation and reduces unnecessary wastages and misuse of electricity. New innovative ideas have also been developed by power suppliers.

One of the best services in the deregulated market has been ChooseEnergy.com. They offer the leading electricity costs comparative website which helps energy customers efficiently lower their electricity bills. Founded in 2005, Choose Energy is a privately funded company serving deregulated consumers and businesses throughout the U.S.

So we are encouraging people to “lock in the low rate” option to avoid future rate increases.

Since deregulation took place in Texas in 2002, the Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) have become increasingly more competitive in the ways they fish for new customers, essentially convincing consumers to “jump ship” and come on board their electrical flagship. There are many incentives, so it’s wise to shop and compare among all the REPs in your area to see which one suits your needs best. Start by visiting www.ChooseEnergy.com, where you’ll find all the information you need about electric companies and their plans, as well as plenty of other valuable insights about ways to keep your energy bills as manageable as possible.

The electric service providers also periodically offer special deals and opportunities to their customers whereby they can lock in a low rate for an extended period of time – in some cases, up to three years. This can be a very prudent step to take. Texas electric rates are lower right now than they were a decade ago, even prior to deregulation. However, these low rates will not last forever, given the predicted rate hikes (due to fewer power plants being constructed despite population increase and with that, an increased demand for electricity). So we are encouraging people to “lock in the low rate” option to avoid future rate increases.

The likelihood of more rolling blackouts and outages being incurred in Texas in the years to come seems virtually inevitable – especially during extreme weather conditions. Enacting whatever measures you can to hedge your bets against higher rates brought about by increased demand and decreased supply is merely good common sense. Texas has enjoyed lower electricity rates the past few years in large part, due to: lowered demand due to the economic recession, on average pretty temperate weather, as well as reduced prices on natural gas. Now, though, as the economy is on its way to turning around, consumer and business electricity demand is on the rise once more. When you add that to the fact that new environmental federal regulations are likely to put an even tighter cap on the already reduced power plant situation in the state, it amounts to one result – higher prices being passed directly to customers.

Locking in a low rate for yourself now is a commitment that very well may afford you a big payoff down the road. Shop and compare, don’t hesitate to ask questions if anything about the rating schedules or terms are unclear. Again, many of your questions can be answered through visiting www.ChooseEnergy.com, either via their extensive and well-designed Education Center section, their blog, FAQ section, or by contacting them for further insight and clarification. A well-informed, pre-planning consumer reaps higher rewards (i.e., more money in your pocket for things you really need) than one who just wanders willy-nilly through life, blindly paying higher electric bills as they continue to rise, probably complaining all along the way. There’s a way to avoid that last scenario. Get informed, and lock in a low rate while the “gettin’s good.” It’s a surer bet than any stock, plus you’ll wind up with more cash flow as a result. Happy Saving!

If you are living in Texas and still paying high electricity bills, then you must not be aware of the deregulation rules. Deregulation rules have been implemented wherein Texan residents can choose the electricity provider they want to supply them with the needed energy. Therefore, you get to choose an energy company that can supply you with lower electricity rates, thereby reducing your energy bill permanently without having to spend more! No more renovations, no more buying of energy-saving appliances to curb the bill.

And with the increasing numbers of energy providers competing to supply your homes or your business establishments with the needed electricity, you can be sure that the rates would be much lower than what you are used to paying to your local energy provider. You can choose among the many providers and compare their rates. And if you have chosen one, you don’t have to worry about transmission and/or distribution because these would still be handled by your local company. Therefore, if you have problems such outage, the local company would still fix them for you. Same services at lower costs!

So what are you waiting for? Choose the company that would give you your energy needs without charging you astronomical bills. There are several companies you can choose from such as TXU Energy, First Choice Power, Champion Energy Services and more. You can compare rates and energy services online by going to www.ChooseEnergy.com. There are sites that would provide you with list of Texan electricity providers and the rates and deals you can avail from these companies.

Compare their rates and choose one that would best suit your energy needs and budget. Just make sure that you choose one that is reliable and competent. One thing for sure, big energy provider companies would lower their rates to compete and to attract more customers or not loose the ones they have. Moreover, they would improve their services to compete attractively in the market. When choosing your provider, check out also if they have cancellation fees. Some companies would charge you with this if you opt to cancel out their services. Remember that the competition is high. You can always choose the company that would be convenient for you.

So start enjoying lower energy rates without the need to spend too much on home improvements and appliances. Check out the companies online and choose one that would benefit you the most.

Since 2002, Texas has been leading the way in free energy choice. Texas consumers have the power to choose from several different electric companies, and can comparison shop the different companies to save money on their electric bill. The electric choice Texas movement, almost a decade strong, has resulted in a significant lowering of electric bills across the Lone Star state.

As of today, 85% of Texas consumers have taken advantage of the increase in energy choices and switched energy companies. With all these electric choices Texas consumers are able to shop for energy the same way they shop for groceries, comparing the prices at different companies and the types of packages offered to decide which one is best for them. This has made it possible for consumers to save money on their electric bills.

This is especially important when the economy is down. Consumer paying .12/kWh for electricity can save by taking advantage of other energy choices. For example, one of the highlighted offers at ChooseEnergy.com is for electricity less than .09/kWh. By switching, this person would lower his or her bill 25%! In a down economy, this can mean food on the table for a few more days each month; it can mean gas in the car; or it can mean a little family fun like pizza and wings.

Texas residents have really taken advantage of the new energy choices, and they will continue to do so in this recession. By comparison shopping electric rates and carefully choosing a plan that meets their needs, consumers can lower their bill quite significantly.

With comparison shopping tools and advice for electric choice Texas available at their site, ChooseEnergy.com is an excellent resource for residents who want to learn more about their energy choices. They can find advice and helpful hints for comparison shopping, as well as information about home energy audits and other ways to save money on home heating costs. After all, having new energy choices doesn’t mean bad choices – like keeping an outdated heating system or adjusting the thermostat several times throughout the day – are any better.

Take advantage of the electric choices Texas residents have available to them and shop for affordable, efficient electric service today. It can mean big savings on your bill tomorrow.
